NAIROBI, Kenya -- A judge ordered Kenya Olympic committee vice president and swimming federation head Ben Ekumbo be held in custody for three days as police investigate him for allegedly stealing sponsored equipment meant for athletes.Ekumbo was arrested at his apartment on Monday, where police found boxes of running shoes, team uniforms, tracksuits and bags provided by sponsor Nike. Prosecutors said in the court on Tuesday that some of the apparel had been stolen in 2010. They said Ekumbo was being investigated for theft, abuse of office and neglect of duty.Ekumbo is the fourth Olympic committee official facing charges in relation to the alleged theft of money and equipment. A separate investigation found that more than $800,000 and large amounts of apparel may have been stolen by senior officials.
