PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Portland Trail Blazers formally signed free agent small forward Dorell Wright and acquired centre Robin Lopez and forward Thomas Robinson in trades, sealing three of several deals the team struck last week. The Blazers got Lopez in a three-team trade with New Orleans and Sacramento that sent guard Tyreke Evans to the Pelicans and guard Greivis Vasquez to the Kings. Lopez averaged 11.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.56 blocked shots in 82 starts last season with the Pelicans. "Robin is a starting-calibrecentre coming off the best year of his career," Blazers general manager Neil Olshey said in a statement. "He fills a void at a position we made a priority this off-season, and his size, ability to protect the rim and emerging offensive game are all key elements in achieving our goal of having more of a presence in the paint on both ends of the floor this season." Portland also acquired guard Terrel Harris from the Pelicans in exchange for the draft rights to Jeff Withey, future second-round draft picks and cash. The Blazers obtained Robinson in a trade with Houston for the rights to Kostas Papnikolaou and Marko Todorovic, as well as two future second-round picks. Robinson was the fifth overall pick in last years draft by the Sacramento Kings but he was dealt to Houston in a February trade. He played in 70 total games last season, averaging 4.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 15.1 minutes. "He is an elite athlete and brings a unique set of physical tools to our roster. He has the potential to be one of the best young power forwards in the league and his development will be a priority for us," Olshey said. Robinson is expected to join the Blazers Summer League team, which opens play on Saturday in Las Vegas. Wright, a nine-year NBA veteran, averaged 9.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists off the bench for the Philadelphia 76ers last season. He reportedly signed a two-year contract worth $6 million. The deal could not be completed until Wednesday under NBA rules. The Blazers on Wednesday also announced the signing of guard Allen Crabbe, the 31st pick out of California acquired by Portland in a draft night trade. Crabbe averaged 15.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in three seasons with the Golden Bears. Portland has scheduled a news conference for Thursday afternoon at the teams practice facility. With the exception of Lopez, who will likely start, the moves were generally lauded as adding depth to Portlands bench. The Blazers lacked depth last season when they lost their last 13 games to finish 33-49 and out of the playoffs for the second straight season. Cheap Authentic Ultra Boost . Big Blue Nation is going to love this edition of Kentucky basketball. The Wildcats are deep, quick, can score in transition, defend well and will get better and better. John Calipari lost so much talent from last season: Tyler Ulis, Jamal Murray, Skal Labissiere, Alex Poythress. Calipari is a recruiting machine and he has reloaded. You couldnt tell how his team would respond to playing in Madison Square Garden against a ranked team Tuesday night. Kentucky passed its test against Michigan State, 69-48.Remember, this squad has been together for about a month. It is young, but oh so talented. They play well as a team and Michigan States size advantage was a small factor. This Wildcats club can run, baby, run! They have tremendous athletic ability and go from the defensive end to the offensive end so fast. This has the making of a very special team.Going into the game Tuesday, there were questions about Malik Monks shooting ability. My friends, what I saw on Tuesday was star ability as Monk hit trifecta after trifecta. He had rhythm, touch and range.I was really impressed by the improvement shown by Isaiah Briscoe. He has become a much better shooter from the field and is a different player on the foul line. His hard work in the gym over the summer has paid off.dddddddddddd I also love his toughness.Bam Adebayo is tough on the boards. DeAaron Fox runs the offense and is a superb passer. Then there are veterans like Derek Willis and Isaac Humphries who help out up front.Kentucky has the quickness and length to be a very good defensive team. Holding the Spartans below 50 points proved that. A young team has bought into Caliparis defensive philosophy.Michigan State is 0-2, but both losses came against ranked teams (Arizona and Kentucky). Miles Bridges had a rough shooting night, but the high-riser will be a special talent. Cassius Winston has to learn to stay out of foul trouble. The Spartans are undersized with Ben Carter and Gavin Schilling hurt, and it is possible that neither will return this season.Tom Izzo is a teacher and his kids will take these two losses and learn from them. Michigan State is doing a lot of flying during the first month of the season and that will also be a challenge.Kentucky has so much talent across the board and Calipari loves his team. They have all of the ingredients to make it to the Final Four. ' ' '
