DENVER -- Turns out, the billionaire owner known as Silent Stan doesnt mind talking when hes walking his dog around the halls of the Pepsi Center. On his stroll Friday with his German shepherd, E. Stanley Kroenke briefly chatted with The Associated Press about his football team the Los Angeles Rams (were competitive, he said), his Barclays Premier League soccer squad Arsenal (Im there every month) and what occupies his time these days (How do I spend my time? I spend my time on my businesses and my family). In 2010, the NFL approved Kroenkes bid to become principal owner of the Rams. In 2014, he became sole owner. And after last season, the team moved to Los Angeles.Asked what he would say to Rams fans after relocating the franchise from St. Louis to L.A., he responded: Were building a team and were excited for the future of the Rams. The response in receiving the team back to Los Angeles was absolutely fantastic. Its been a great experience. The Rams are 3-2 heading into their game this weekend in Detroit (2-3). After that, theyll take off for London to face the New York Giants. Were young, Kroenke said. I think its the fifth year in a row were the youngest team in the NFL. Weve been building this team.On the new stadium front, Kroenke said that developers appear on pace to open the 70,000-seat, clear-roofed football stadium in Inglewood, California, in August 2019. The stadium will serve as the main attraction of a sprawling campus that includes a 6,000-seat theater, about 2,500 residential units, 895,000 square feet of retail space, a 300-room hotel and office space. There will also be at least 25 acres of parks, playgrounds and green space. Were building a small city to the centerpiece of which is a great, big stadium, said Kroenke, whose name, E. Stanley, is an ode to baseball icons Enos Slaughter and Stan Musial. In addition to the Rams, hes the majority shareholder of Arsenal and also owns the Denver Nuggets of the National Basketball Association, along with the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League. His son, Josh, oversees the Nuggets as well as the Avalanche.Hopefully, theyre going to have some great teams this year, Kroenke said. Weve got some exciting players. Were looking forward to it.Kroenkes Denver-based company, Kroenke Sports and Entertainment, runs the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer. His subsidiary companies oversee cable channels such as The Outdoor Channel and the World Fishing Network. Hes also served on boards for companies such as Wal-Mart Stores Inc., and the Missouri Basketball Hall of Fame.Theres always a lot going on, Kroenke said, before hopping on the elevator with his dog.---AP Sports Writer Greg Beacham contributed.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP-NFL Nike Air Max 1 China Wholesale . DALLAS -- New Baylor athletic director Mack Rhoades vowed Monday during his introductory news conference to repair the culture of the Bears football program.Rhoades, whom Baylor hired away from Missouri last week, said at Big 12 media days in Dallas that he intends to reform a department rocked by its sexual assault scandal by prioritizing a standard that no one entity is greater than the university. Its a commitment to excellence in everything we do, said Rhoades, who takes over Aug. 15. There are just certain things we wont tolerate, and moving forward, everybody will be on that same page.On a day when Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby said conference presidents are deeply concerned about being associated with Baylors issues, and one day before Baylor leadership presents more information on how it is addressing those issues to the leagues board of directors, Rhoades made his debut and expressed his excitement about the opportunity to lead Baylor forward.Baylor interim president David Garland appeared at Rhoades introduction and spoke with reporters afterward. He reiterated the school will not release any more details or a written report from its Pepper Hamilton investigation, even though Bowlsby and the league have requested more. There is no more information to really give out, Garland said. And I know that may be hard to believe. The information would be more salacious details, and Im just not going to do that.Despite that stance, Rhoades promised this: Were going to be transparent. Every stop Ive been at, weve been transparent. Weve been transparent with the university, thhe donors, the fans, and were going to continue to do that.ddddddddddddThats just how were going to operate. The new AD has yet to set foot on Baylors campus -- hell do so Tuesday -- and acknowledged he doesnt have a deep level of understanding about everything that took place at the school. But hes not afraid to make further changes.Certainly there has to be some changes, there have been changes already, and Ill determine whether or not thats enough and whether or not we need to move even farther, Rhoades said.Bowlsby suggested Monday that some league presidents feel the image of the Big 12 and its members has been sullied by the Baylor incidents. Garland offered a frank response to that concern: Weve sullied our own reputation, and were trying to do everything possible to correct that.Rhoades has yet to meet interim football coach Jim Grobe. He said hell have a plan in place by the end of the season for a football coaching search, if one is necessary, but added he has respect and admiration for Grobe. As for Grobes nine assistant coaches, all of whom worked for former coach Art Briles, Garland indicated the football staff will be retained and coach this season unless something more comes out that I dont know about. Rhoades supports that plan. The university, I think, did a great job in terms of looking at all the facts, he said. They made a decision that that staff remains in place. I support that decision. I look forward to getting to know them.
